My First Trip to the Ocean

I have never been able to see the ocean and my dear hubby made a vow years ago that he would get me there someday. Well this past July we finally went.  We live 4 hours from Ocean City, MD.  I was in such awwww at the site of  the vastness and beauty of the water.  I took all the pictures I could  but I have way to many to post here. I picked a few of my favorites.

First time I ever swam in the ocean an the ocean kicked my butt. I loved it.

We plan on visiting the ocean again but I want a better bathing suit next time around. LOL.

I got 2nd Place

I found out today at school that the updo I created for a contest got 2nd place. I have been learning on my own.  Anyway  here is a photo of my prize.

  I got a Soy Milk treatment, 2 nail polish and a coloring bowl set.  Just wanted to share the news Have a good evening all.

My Retro Look for Halloween

We got to wear costumes to my cosmetology school and I decided not to be a Devil, so I decided to go for a 50's look. I went to thrift stores to put the costume together and did internet research to do my hair and make-up.   Everyone at school loved my retro look and kept calling me Lucy.

Happy Halloween

It's been awhile since I blogged but school and work have been keeping me busy.  I'm now on the salon floor and still nervous but I love it.  I decided to enter an updo contest at school, the theme was fall and/or winter design. This was my entry.

Now on to Halloween. The town we moved too celebrates Halloween with a night parade and various places to go for haunted houses and trick or treating. The only thing I think is wierd is the particular town I'm in has trick or treating on the Tuesday prior to Halloween.  Anyway I took the kids out and here are photos of their costumes.

The costume in the middle is sis' final costume choice. The other photo's are costumes she tried on to see how she liked them.

Just as I typed on the photo, bub was a Hunter from the Left 4 Dead game.

I work at Factory Card Outlet the the halloween season only and I ended up in a few costumes myself to help promote them. I ended up buying the Devil costume (price was cheapest). No laughing aloud. I know I look silly. LOL!

School is going Fantastic

I've been doing great in school.  I passed my haircutting with no problem and haircoloring I test out in tomorrow but I have been getting excellent grades in that too. I found a wonderful blog for little girl hairstyles and I have tried about 3 of them so far on my daughter and she just loved them. The blog is The Story of a Princess and Her Hair. Here are the results of my attempt with sis' hair.

Then I seen an updo in a book "Great Hair : Elegant Styles for Every Occasion" By: Davis Biton, So I decided to give it a shot on my mannequin and here is the result.

During haircoloring in class I got my hair recolored and I redid my nails

My hair is darker now and if you look close you can see red and violet in the color

During class we had to bring in models to color their hair. I took Gage in for another classmate to color and here is his result.

I colored someone else's hair and here is her result.

Look at the violet color in her hair it turned out awesome. She really liked it.

Well that is all for now my next post will be on our vacation .

Well its been awhile since I posted last, but I've been trying to keep busy. School is going fantastic. I'm learning so much already and I still have a way to go before I graduate. Here is a photo of my mannequin I did haircuts on. This is the final haircut we had to do.  I also added a couple of nail designs I seen online I wanted to try.

We also went to Codorus State Park to enjoy the Codorus Blast. We didn't have the money to do any rides but we did get a free pontoon boat ride. My daughter absolutly loved this the most. The kids got to see a small civil war camp site, an owl and falcon, they got to shoot a pellet gun and my son got to climb the rock wall.

We drove around Codorus Park and we found the Marina.

Over the 4th of July weekend we didn't do a whole lot. We went on a picnic and I jammed a finger playing football with my son (ok just catch), we went for a hike and I ended up getting stung by 5 yellowjackets (thank God I'm not allergic),  and on the fourth we cooked out and watched fireworks at the local park.

I have been somewhat depressed lately because I don't really have friends at our new location to just hang with or call and that is my choice alone because I know we won't stay here. We are looking for a new place with a better job for my hubby. But in the same aspect i feel like I'm losing touch with friends and family in my old hometown. We've only been gone about one year but I don't really talk that much to anyone back home. Maybe that will all change eventually.  I'll feel better when we are able to move to a state that is friendlier and doesn't tax as bad as here. It would help if there was more age diversity too. This town has to many drugs and there are muggings a lot here. Well enough for now I'll try to post again sooner.
